The complete refurbishment of student accommodation and a vertical extension to add additional facilities and a striking Sky-Lounge, has taken the Shoreditch London iQ building to new heights.. As a main contractor with experience in student accomodation works, MBL were chosen as the principal contractor for the refurbishment and extension of this of purpose build student accommodation project which had to be completed on a tight schedule.
The project works included
- A 2 storey vertical extension to create a new 15th and 16th floor featuring a magnificent Sky Lounge.
- Modernisation of 280 student rooms, gym and other facilities, refurbished to the highest standards.
To minimise disruption to students whilst they were resident, we created a fenced off external storage yard and erected external scaffolding and our own dedicated lift for the vertical extension. Materials and builders were transported easily whilst the works were carried out. Careful planning made it possible to carry out works that might cause distraction to students were carried out over the summer period. We are proud to have delivered ahead of schedule; the building was operational and welcomed new students at the start of the academic year.
